As Maya Angelou once wrote; " It was custom not to sell vanilla ice cream to blacks in many parts of the South, except on Independence day during the Jim Crow era. Although, it was a black enslaved named Edmund Albius who perfected the flavor of Vanilla ice cream. It's white sweetness was viewed as a representation of the American Dream, which was why Black people were kept from eating it".
We've come a long way but yet we are still far from where we should be when it comes to equality.
